News that Gives Wings

Hello, everyone!

I’m feeling GREAT. Do you want to know why?
Oh, come on, we both know I’ll tell you.

Remember that short story I sent to my editor? Well, it came back to me two days ago. The red “track changes” feature in Word has been less prolific than I thought it would! I am pleasantly surprised.

I am slowly going through all the comments and fixes. It’s a learning process I simply ADORE. It makes me feel more professional and serious about my writing, too. Let’s admit it: entering an important contest after having your work edited IS professional.

I wish you, fellow writers/authors, to have your writing edited one day. The feeling is pure bliss. At least it is to me. I am quite proud of how I’m taking all this – on the positive side.
Thank you all for accompanying me on my journey to become an established author. It all means so much to me!

I’ll inform you once I’m done polishing my short story and sending it to the contest.

Meanwhile, be aware that I’ll post about three reviews in the beginning of April. I hope you’ll enjoy reading them and discover new books at the same time.

Until next post, sweethearts!

A Step on the Publishing Path (and Other Great Stuff!)

Hello, ladies and gentlemen!

I have two good news for you, an update, and a question.

Let’s start with the good news (it’s my favorite part!).

I will participate in the Writer’s Digest Annual Writing Contest this year in the genre short story category (Romance). Yes, you’ve read it well! I am so thrilled it’s unbelievable. It’s the biggest contest in which I have ever participated. What is pleasant about it too is that they give every participant a free webinar. So everyone wins in a way! I’m just happy to be in.

The second fun thing I want to tell you is making me bubble up with joy: I’ll have my short story edited! I have never had an editor work on a short story of mine, so this is a huge step toward publication and I’m as excited as one can be – I’m ecstatic actually. I can’t wait to read the edited version and learn from it!

As for the update, I am still working hard on Nightshade: The Death Stone. Truth is I had to slow down a little due to midterm exams; however, I now have more free time to dedicate to writing, yay! My main focus is on characterisation and world-building this week and the next, along with outlining (of course!).

With that being said, I have a question: would you be interested in character, world-building, and other worksheets if I made them? Some free and others you would be able to purchase.

What do you think?

Or would you prefer a story binder or a writing planner, or other products?

Moreover, what writing issues would you like me to tackle in order to help you, guys (and girls)?

Tell me your opinion in the comments below! I’m always happy to interact with you.

P.S.: Book reviews are coming your way as well!

A Story Lightbulb

Yes, I’ve had a story lightbulb! What I mean by this is that I found back an idea for a fan fiction in my piles of sheets of paper and notebooks and decided to turn it into a short story of a few pages (about 50 or so). You’ve read well: a fan fiction. I won’t disclose the original idea as I don’t want you to think of it only as fan fiction. I figured to make a short story of my own because it was so different from the original concept – it was an AU, which means alternate universe.

Having created most of the characters’ backstory and new issues, I told myself I could stray a bit from the intended purpose (fan fiction) and make a good short story out of it!

I am currently fleshing out the characters, the plot, and the setting. It’s a homosexual romance with policemen. It sounds sexy, doesn’t it? Well, there is going to be romance, twists, and angst (a lot of angst) as the main character doesn’t accept his homosexuality…

I’ll tell you more about it as I write, okay? 😀

It’s going to be a fun adventure!

On another note, I have finished my first short story for Diabolical Plots’ contest. Yay! I only have to tweak a few things and polish it, then it’s ready to be sent. Moreover, I am in the process of outlining the second one because we can send two short stories for the contest. Yes, yes, yes!

I’ll tell you more about how it goes. Hopefully, I’ll be done outlining and writing the short characters’ profiles tomorrow. They’re two stories revolving around religion and how some facts are wrongly perceived. Interesting, huh?

Thanks for reading and following me on my writing journey!

P.S.: Please do comment whenever you feel like it. I’d love to talk with you.

See you next post!

Part 3/5 and a Surprise!

Hello there,

I decided I’d try to write on here today just to inform you that I’m currently planning the third volume in my Down to Earth series. I need to get to the fifth and last one.

I must admit it’s tough work, but a lot of fun too! I’m on a road map, discovering what are my next adventures. It’s exciting and breathtaking.

However, the third outline looks like a messed-up bunch of untimed events. Yes, it’s true… I still need to find the timeline for it. But I’m ready!

As for the surprise, well, I’ll have you know that I’m participating in Diabolical Plots’ short story contest! 😀 Yes, yes, yes. I’m in the process of writing two short stories that are centred on religion – one of my favourite topics. If one of them is accepted, I’ll win money and get published!

Isn’t it just great?

Wish me luck!

If ever I don’t win, I’ll simply keep my short stories and publish them in a collection about religion. Eh, why not? 😉

See you next post!
